Health and welfare policy

I graduated from a Ph.D. program at the University of Central Florida that prioritizes empirical research and evidence-based policy design. Previously my administrative burdens led me to focus heavily on youth studies, substance use and deviance, recently I shifted my attention at studying social inequalities, community outreach programs, welfare services, and intervention evaluations.

I designed and held the largest youth survey in Turkey and continued with subsequent surveys in different settings (total sampling size is above 50.000 respondents). I studied the impact of religion, immigration, neighborhood and school settings on substance use, crime, and suicide among young people.

I have also participated in projects that aim to formulate guidelines for health promotion and substance use prevention programs in the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL).

Check out research projects that I have involved/supervised in project page.
